A few weeks ago I announced a contest to win a free portrait session as a way of saying thank you to all the support I’ve received over the past year. Well, today that winner is announced!! We had so many beautifully written entries, it really was very hard narrowing it down. (I’m glad I didn’t have to do it!). Thank you to Linda over at the Head & Hand Press for judging this contest. I think she deserves a portrait session too, yes? : )
Congratulations to Ashley Smith on her well written story on the day she was engaged. Ashley herself is a photographer and is used to being behind the lens, but her new fiancé Jeff not only surprised her with a proposal, but also managed to photograph her reaction with her camera, as he was practicing with it so he can capture this moment:
“He was more nervous about performing with the camera that he wasn’t even concerned with if I would like the ring or say yes or be surprised (although they were all yes’s!). When I looked at the photos he took that afternoon, I realized just how perfect he was for me. He’d captured moment by moment coverage of my reaction and then crafted some of the most gorgeous, natural portraits of me that have ever been taken, all while I cried on the rock and played in the sand, trying to take in the here and now. They are everything I strive to be as a photographer–honest, humorous, and filled with heart. Through his eyes, I saw how he saw me in that moment, and it was the most amazing experience.
As I look back over my favorite summer memories, there are plenty that take place on a beautiful beach, or on a perfect day, or with a great group of people, but none rival the experience of feeling like someone has truly seen you. Jeff and I will be getting married on September 21 of this year (making a fall memory!)”
Congratulations to both Ashley and Jeff! I look forward to our time together.
Thank you to everyone who entered this contest! I truly appreciate your continued support. Perhaps in the future I will run another contest? Taking suggestions now for the theme…. : )
