Another incredible Park Savoy wedding! You may remember Diana and Craig (and their pooch Daisy) from their yummy engagement session a little while back. Well, their wedding day finally arrived and it was the fairytale wedding they always knew they would have. When I arrived and saw Diana for the first time that morning, I was practically enchanted with her happiness and energy. All the planning and anticipation culminated in one of the most wonderfully emotional weddings I would have the privilege to photograph. Diana and Craig are crazy in love, and anyone who knows them realizes the connection they share. It’s been an honor documenting this time of their lives for them.
The impeccable Park Savoy in Florham Park, NJ was the gorgeous backdrop for their wedding day. From the twilight ceremony to the last dance, the day was perfect.
Here is their story, as told by Diana:
How did you meet? We both took a chance on a dating website. Ironically neither of us had a picture on our profile but decided our quick connection over a few messages meant more than looks. We were pleasantly surprised when we finally exchanged pictures and our risk paid off! We quickly bonded over our love for “The Office” and we were inseparable ever since!
The Proposal: Our first year dating we went on a hike and along the trail we found a tree with a “C+D” spray painted on it. It seemed like it was even more of a sign that we really did find our forever person in each other. Since then we returned to that hiking spot each year and would take a yearly picture together. On the day of the engagement Craig asked me if I wanted to do our yearly hike. I was having the absolute WORST day at work and simply was not in the mood. Craig was insistent and I could not understand why he was forcing me to go on a hike I was not in the mood to go on! I joked with my coworker how out of character it was for him and that “he better be proposing on this hike if it’s so damn important!” (a phrase I would later regret being so petty about!) We finally reached our hiking spot and the “C+D” tree was still there, it needed a touch up paint job but still there all the same! Craig set up his tripod to take our annual photo in our favorite spot. As I posed for a picture I had no idea Craig had set it to record instead! He recited a line from The Office, “This is where our love faces its toughest test. After this, it’s smooth sailing for the rest of our lives.” He got down on one knee and proposed and had the whole thing on tape! I could finally understand why he was so insistent on hiking that day! We still joke today about how angry with him I was for forcing me to hike, and i am so glad he did!
What were some of your favorite moments from your wedding day? The ceremony was one of the most breath taking magical things we had ever seen. We were really worried about it being dark out by the time of our ceremony but it honestly made it the most stunning ceremony we had ever seen. It will be something we never forget! The entire time I couldn’t stop thinking how lucky we were to be in such a gorgeous fairytale-like setting. The ceremony was hands down our favorite part.
Any advice for future couples planning their weddings? When someone tells you “take it in, it goes so fast” do not brush it off as a cliché thing people tell you. By the time you realize how right they were it will be too late. The next day I didn’t even feel like i was part of the wedding, it felt like I watched a movie. It wasn’t until I got my pictures back that I remembered the feeling and wonderfulness of it all! Take in every single second.
