A Thanksgiving Note of Gratitude

As we move into Thanksgiving week, I’ve found myself reflecting on the past year—on the studio, the sessions, the people and pets I’ve had the honor to photograph, and the moments that have filled my calendar and my heart. And the simple truth is this:

I am so grateful.

If you are reading this and have stepped in front of my camera at any point—thank you.
Thank you for trusting me with your memories, your loved ones, your pets, your stories, and the chapters of your life that matter.

This year has been a meaningful one for my studio. I’ve photographed families growing and changing, new business journeys, pets who are the center of the home, couples beginning their story, and long-loved companions in their golden years. I never take for granted what it means to be invited into those moments. Photography isn’t just images—it’s emotion, time, and connection. And being part of that is a privilege every single time.

This season also carries another layer of emotion for me. Not even a month ago, I said goodbye to my soul dog, Dottie. She was with me for thirteen years, and losing her has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life. Many of you reached out with messages, memories, and compassion—and I want to say how truly grateful I am for that. Your words meant something. They helped. They reminded me why I do what I do.

Because photographs matter.
Because the ones we love—human or furry—are never here long enough.
Because one day, we are so grateful we took the time to freeze them in a moment.

This Thanksgiving, I’m giving thanks for every person who welcomed me into their story this year. For your support, your trust, your referrals, your encouragement, and for allowing me to do work I care deeply about.

I hope this week brings you rest, warmth, full hearts, and the company of those you love most. And if you’re celebrating with a little furry best friend beside you, give them an extra snuggle for me.

With love and gratitude,
Danette
