NJ Summer Backyard Pandemic Wedding: Caitlin & Travis

When planning your wedding, what were you most looking forward to? I was looking most forward to spending the day with Caitlin and celebrating our journey with our closest friends and family members. I was very excited about capturing the moment and taking the time to soak it in! We’ve been dating a long time – we’ve seen each other grow, live, struggle, thrive, and the day was a culmination of all those things. It’s really impossible to pinpoint any one thing I was MOST excited for, but I was excited to BE MARRIED and celebrate with all those who had a hand in shaping us into the people that we are, and those who aided in the love we have for each other.

What were some of your favorite moments from your wedding day? We originally planned for a limo to wait for us after we the ceremony at the church. Plans changed due to the coronavirus. My cousin has a 1951 Packard that he was going to TRY and fix up so he can pick us up after the ceremony instead. He provided me updates all week…..”the carburetor isn’t looking too good”, “it’s running too hot”, “I think I may have flushed it”……do I necessarily know what all this means? No. But it came down to the 25th hour and sure enough, we rode off in the sunset in style after the ceremony. We drove around town as the newly couple and it was like something out of a movie. It was at this moment I knew coronavirus wasn’t going to tarnish our day. The day was special and it was apparent. We followed this up with a micro wedding in our backyard as the new Mr. and Mrs.

If you could do it all again, would you change anything? Of course I wish the pandemic wasn’t a factor. Everyone wishes this. Aside from that no way! We certainly made the best of everything and I can’t imagine the day feeling any more special. I got to marry my best friend, life partner, and love of my life and that is the most important part of the day after all.

Any advice for future couples planning their weddings? Take the time to enjoy it. I hear of lots of couples who get married and don’t get to eat, or talk to who they want to talk to, or even have a drink. It’s your day. It’s only 1 day. It goes VERY QUICK. Make enjoying the day a huge priority because it’s easy to get distracted with things that don’t matter.

It’s Never Just a Wedding
