Wedding at the College of Physicians: Liza & Jared

Liza and Jared are yet another fantastic couple that I had the privilege of working with last year. Each time we met it was always good times and their wedding was also good times all around all day long! They held their fall wedding at The College of Physicians in Philadelphia, PA, which you may also know houses the famous Mutter Museum. It’s always an honor documenting weddings for my couples and their families, and even now as we all live through the pandemic I can’t help but think how fragile life is and how important wedding days and gathering will be from now on. Embrace each moment, for they sure are precious!

A special shout out to Merida, a terrific wedding planner that made the day go by smoothly.  Future brides and grooms, you will be in good hands with her! Check out her website here: https://www.eventsbymerida.com/

Here a few words from our bride Liza…. enjoy!

When planning your wedding, what were you most looking forward to? We were excited to reunite with old friends! There wasn’t a particular part we were looking forward to most. The way we saw it, all the parts were just different pieces of this special opportunity to share good company and good food.

What were some of your favorite moments from your wedding day? We kind of turned it into a wedding weekend to spread out the joy. We loved taking pictures with our cat, Fluffernutter, and doing our First Look photos. We had fun putting together welcome bags with parents too. After the ceremony, our recessional music (a selection from Jurassic Park) was perfectly timed for another big kiss while walking back up the aisle. When the day was officially over, we had an afterparty with friends, and then a memorable stroll across Philly in the pouring rain, laughing and laughing. Getting brunch with friends the next day was a perfect finishing touch.

If you could do it all again, would you change anything? Nope! The first thing we did was hire our excellent planner, Merida, and we gave ourselves plenty of time and space to plan so it would be an enjoyable process. That worked out well for us.

Any advice for future couples planning their weddings? We recognize that weddings are going to look pretty different for the next year or so while the world is working its way through uncertain times. You’ll know what’s going to be important for you as priorities shift or things get postponed, so listen to your gut. Take one day at a time, do what feels right for you as a couple, and take time to appreciate your support networks–including each other. It’s easy to feel pressure from expectations or tradition, but we just sort of let it all go and kept what was meaningful for us. A wedding can be a great opportunity to get creative.

Is there anything else you would like to add? Just a big thank you to Danette and Todd! We loved their energy and style, and we really cherish these photos.
