A kick ass costume wedding: Leah & Marcel

“My fiance and I are huge nerds – we go to comic con together, he’s a chemistry professor and I’m a medical student. He is amazing and sweet and supportive, I love that I have found the one other person in this world who is as weird and obscure as me. We are having a comic con themed wedding where everyone (including us) are coming in costumes.”  – an excerpt from an email from our bride . (My thoughts: A COSTUME WEDDING OMG)

When I got this message from Leah (pronounced just like the Princess!) I was just as excited as you would have been! Let’s face it, 99.99% of the weddings I have photographed had no costumes, so this was an exciting idea and I was really intrigued. Everyone dressed up! EVERYONE. How awesome is that?! Leah and Marcel have found their people and it was so much fun (and colorful) to see the level of detail that their guests brought to their costumes. Getting dressed up for a wedding like this really brings out the goodness and creativity! Leah and Marcel always said “you do you”, and it was entertaining to see all the characters attending the wedding from the obvious to the obscure.

I’m doing something different to show you their wedding by posting all the pages that will be in their wedding album.  This was the best option to properly tell their story, show you all the special details to their outfits and reception, and show you more of the guests and their costumes. I hope you like it!

Special thanks to my main man pots and pans, Todd Laffler, for shooting this epic wedding with me! Many of his photos are included below.

Enjoy!!

It’s Never Just a Wedding

I photographed Lizzy and Jess’s wedding in November, and it’s one I’ve thought about often since then. In the weeks leading up to the day, there was some uncertainty about whether Lizzy’s dad, Bruce, would be able to attend.
