What a gorgeous day for a wedding at the Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park, NJ! Cassie and Matt (along with their adorable pittie Amani!) celebrated their awesomeness together with their favorite people. Their ceremony was on the rooftop of the Asbury Hotel, and their kickass reception was under the stars at the courtyard. Sheer gorgeousness and good times all around! Wait until you see these photos. I’m telling ya, all I had to do was press the button, there was so much good stuff happening all around me.
Here are some thoughts from Matt and Cassie, in their own words…
How did you meet? We met October 1st, 2012 at training for our first job out of college at an accounting firm. We found out we were both assigned to the same client since we were the only two people there who didn’t live in north jersey, and probably made some awkward small talk.
The proposal: I proposed to Cassie on October 14th, 2017 at Rickett’s Glen State Park in PA. This is one of our favorite places to hike and we go there every year. I was so nervous about remembering to bring the ring that I forgot to pack our hiking boots, so we had to hike in our sneakers (which is not ideal given the terrain). I was so nervous and luckily we got lost during the hike so there was about a half hour window when no one else was near us. Cassie made a joke about keeping her last name when we get married and said “too bad we won’t have to worry about that for a while” and I responded with “uh…actually…” and then I proposed (I don’t remember what I said honestly I think I blacked out for a minute). Cassie replied by saying “shut the fuck up” and proceeded to punch me. In Cassie language that’s a yes, and the rest is history!
What’s next on your calendar as a couple? We are always throwing a wrench into our life plans, I predict new jobs and a big move in the next year!
What were some of your favorite moments from your wedding day?Highlights of our wedding day include a photo shoot with our bridal party (who may or may not have been heavily intoxicated), seeing our vision of the ceremony and reception decorations come to life, reading our vows to each other, pulling off an entire outdoor wedding with a supposed hurricane making its way to Jersey, dancing all night, checking up on our dog who was hanging out in our hotel room, going to a diner together at 1:30am in our wedding dress/suit and stuffing our faces.
Any advice for future couples planning their weddings? Enjoy the process! Planning the wedding is WAY more stressful than the actual wedding day. Don’t sweat the small stuff, don’t let other people’s opinions influence what’s important to you and your special day. And hire the best photographer you can find (wink wink nudge nudge).
Is there anything else you would like to communicate? All of the decorations, food, flowers, music, etc. is an important part of the day, but what really makes your wedding special is being surrounded by your closest friends and family while you celebrate your marriage. Don’t lose sight of the significance of your wedding day while you get lost in the craziness of wedding planning. And when your future wife asks you your opinion on things, repeat after me: “whatever you think is best!”
