Roxborough Portrait Session: Nick & Mary

A couple months ago I got a call from Mary asking if I would be interested in photographing her and her grandson, Nick.  Nick is a 21 year old autistic gentleman and about to graduate from his school, and Mary is not only his grandmother but also his primary caretaker.  Upon my arrival Nick was at first apprehensive, especially of my camera and lenses, but he quickly warmed up.  He showed me his room, his favorite books, video games, and even the medal he earned in the Special Olympics.  I photographed them for just an hour before Nick was “done”.  It’s hard work, ya know! (Something I don’t tell my clients!)

They live just a few blocks from me and I’m happy to have met them.  Here’s how our time together unfolded…
