Union League of Philadelphia Wedding: Morgan & Mike

I’m so happy to share another amazing Philadelphia wedding with you!  You may remember Morgan & Mike from their engagement session in the spring.  Their big day finally arrived on a beautiful September afternoon in center city Philly, and it was quite an amazing day.  The ceremony was held at the First Presbyterian Church near Rittenhouse Square, followed by an epic fairy-tale reception at the prestigious Union League on Broad Street.

Get to know Morgan and Mike, in their own words:

The proposal: On December 11, 2015 after almost three years since our first date at Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown, PA Mike popped the question in his own living room reciting a verse from “The Phantom of the Opera”, Morgan’s favorite Broadway Musical. After taking the obligatory selfie and having a glass of celebratory champagne, Mike then surprised Morgan by driving to her favorite restaurant for dinner where our parents were waiting to celebrate with them as well. It was definitely the night to remember.

Why did you choose your venue? We chose the Union League of Philadelphia as our venue mostly because of his historical grandeur, but also because Morgan spent a lot of time there growing up. She still attends the annual Father-Daughter dance every year with her Dad and sisters, and has always loved the traditional style of the venue

What were some of your favorite moments from your wedding day? Our wedding day went by in a flash, but it was amazing to see all of our hard work and planning pay off in what was the most spectacular day for both of us. The highlight for Morgan was the band, East River Project Band, who were simply the most amazing group of musicians. They are actually booked to play Morgan’s sister’s wedding in November of this year! Mike’s favorite moments were the morning trip to Federal Donuts, experiencing his first straight shave, seeing Morgan in her dress for the first time, officially tying the knot, our epic cake, and all of the fun and joy we experienced through the night. We made it a late night, moving the after party over to the Jazz Club across from the Union League, and topping it off with Insomnia cookies at 2AM, Mike’s favorite late night stop in the city.

What’s next on your calendar as a couple? After the wedding, we took a week long honeymoon to sunny Aruba! It was the first time there for both of us and it was just as picturesque as the photos make it seem. It was a great way to unwind, relax and de-stress from all of the wedding planning! We went abroad again for New Year’s, a week long trip to Ireland with Morgan’s parents. 2017 is sure to bring more business to Mike as he is a wedding photographer, but will also mean more weddings to attend as Morgan’s cousin ties the knot in March, and her sister in November.

Any advice for future couples planning their weddings? If your budget allows for it, book a live band! You will not regret it. Other than that, make sure your wedding is YOUR vision, not anyone else’s.

Thanks for sharing, M&M!!!  Best of luck to you both.
